Brian Weight is the winner of the February FujiLove Magazine photo assignment “Work” (see the winning photograph above). We wanted to know more about Brian and his work. Here comes our conversation with him!
Tomash: Who is Brian Weight?
Brian: I live in Birmingham in the UK. I am retired from work. I travel to lots of places in the UK, but I really like Scotland. There are many places in the UK of outstanding beauty, we are spoilt for choice. I have been interested in photography for about 45 years and have been an active member of Kings Norton Photography Club for 36 years.

When did you start using the Fujifilm camera system and what are its features that you enjoy the most?
I started using Fujifilm cameras & lenses in 2017. I have an X-T2 and X-Pro2 with several lenses. My favourites are 14mm f2.8- 23mm f2 – 18-135mm and the 60mm f2.8. The system is very good and the equipment is very well made. The lenses are excellent and it is all very portable. I like the film simulations and the controls are all well placed on the cameras. I shoot mostly in RAW + JPG (the jpegs are great).

Could you share a story behind your image with FujiLove community?
The winning image is a part of a project I started a few years ago called “The Small Work Tools”. I get the tools from friends boot sales & junk shops. I like to take the images outdoors in natural light usually early evening in the summer months. The background for the tools is my partners old baking tray. The camera is always tripod mounted.

How about a few more favorite photographs of yours? What do you enjoy shooting the most?
My main interests are Landscape / Seascapes, but I am very keen on doing more close ups of rusting metal, rocks & old wood often producing square images. Also I am getting into photographing trees.

Anything particular you would like to see coming from Fujifilm in the upcoming months and years?
Not much from Fujifilm really. A tilt & shift lens would be good and an X-Pro3 with about 28 MP sensor 🙂
